Sato Takeru

Sato Takeru

A commissioned piece featuring Sato Takeru from Shabekuri 007, aired on July 21, 2014.

Quick translation notes:

  • King vs Prince. In Japan, “prince” has the connotation that they’re “best” of something and young and handsome. In English, “prince” has a connotation that they’re only 2nd best, after their dad–the king–and so it doesn’t carry the same impact. Thus he is translated to be the king of competitiveness in this episode.
  • The moth dance is a parody on a familiar song… but I can’t for the life of me remember what it is.
  • Shiba Inu is the official English name for the breed, but in Japanese, it’s more common to use the kunyomi (shiba-ken) rather than the onyomi (shiba-inu). Both are written the same way.
